博士留学 | 阿卜杜拉国王科技大学招收结构生物学博士_graduates_Master_suits
Project description
Highly motivated candidates interested in structural studies of disease-related signaling complexes (MAPK and mTOR) are invited to apply for a fully funded PhD position in the laboratory of Dr. Andreas Naschberger in the Biological and Environmental Sciences and Engineering (BESE) Division at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
The position suits recent Master’s graduates, with a career interest in structural biology. We are using cryo-EM and other biochemical/biophysical methods to characterize disease-related protein assemblies involved in cell signaling. The lab offers an excellent equipped environment where experimental lab work in protein purification is channeled into structural studies using cryo-EM. We ask fundamental questions about how human signaling protein complexes function within their regulatory networks. The project specifically targets the regulation and dynamics of these complexes at near-atomic resolution.
Selection criteria
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline area, such as Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or Bioengineering
Experience in protein purification from E.coli, insect and mammalian cell culture
Experience in the cryo-EM workflow (data collection, data processing, and model building) would be considered as plus
Creative and self-motivated personality with an interest in fundamental and applied science
A record of publications in quality, peer-reviewed journals is not necessary but would be considered as plus
Excellent problem-solving skills
Good interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills in English
